As a Cupola member, we were all asked to go the the sophomore level classes of our major and try to recruit students. I went to one at 8 AM this morning. Those “kids” just gave me blank stares. I already felt like a dork because I am still recovering from a cold and sound like a man. The only bright side is that I am slowly getting better at talking in front of crowds. I wasn’t blushing nearly as badly this time though I did have another Cupola with me. For some odd reason, when I am sitting around with a large group, being the only one talking doesn’t bother me. I only hit the, as I call it, word-vomit stage when I have to stand in front of a group. It doesn’t matter if I know all of them or not. I just blush, sweat, talk really fast, and my voice shakes. I have a little less than two weeks to get past this so that I don’t make a fool of myself at the Cupola elections. I am running for an officer position and have the qualifications for the job. I just need to make it through the speech. Fingers crossed I don’t make a fool of myself!
There was also the awkward do we clap or not situation at the end of our 5 minute recruitment talk…Such a great way to start the day! Haha.
